  • Nitrox available
  • Comfortable indoor lounge and dining areas
  • Full-service galley serving freshly prepared meals

  • Access to destinations from the Northern and Southern Channel Islands to the Baja Peninsula
  • Stable offshore platform designed with safety, comfort, and performance in mind

Located nearly 100 miles offshore in the open Pacific, Cortes and Tanner Banks offer some of the most remote, exhilarating, and rewarding diving in Southern California. These legendary underwater seamounts rise dramatically from deep water, creating spectacular topography and a true offshore diving experience.

Cortes Bank is best suited for experienced divers comfortable with advanced open-water conditions. Its remote location, deep blue water, changing currents, and rugged underwater structure have earned it a reputation as one of California’s most iconic offshore dive destinations.

The banks attract an impressive variety of marine life, including yellowtail, bluefin tuna, large schools of baitfish, sharks, lobster, and seasonal migratory species. The combination of dramatic structure and open-ocean conditions means every trip has the potential to deliver something extraordinary.

For experienced spearfishers and freedivers, Cortes and Tanner Banks are equally legendary. Their isolation and challenging conditions make a successful dive—or landing a prized target species—an accomplishment to remember.

When weather and ocean conditions come together, few Southern California dive destinations can match the wild beauty, abundant marine life, and sense of adventure found at Cortes and Tanner Banks.

Experience Southern California Diving Aboard the Vision

The Vision is a spacious multi-day liveaboard dive vessel that has been exploring the waters of Southern California since 1985. She is approximately 88 feet long and 27 feet wide and can accommodate up to 32 passengers; however, Arizona Dive Center is expecting our group will be around 28 divers to provide additional space and a more comfortable experience onboard.

What makes the Vision an upgraded California dive experience? From the moment you step aboard, you'll enjoy more room to relax, prepare for your dives, and spend time with your fellow divers. The Vision features

  • large dive deck
  • ample equipment storage
  • staging area
  • easy water access
  • gear-drying space
  • comfortable overnight accommodations
  • spacious indoor lounge and dining areas

Between dives, relax while the crew prepares fresh meals in the vessel' full-service galley. The Vision is also equipped with professional-grade compressors and fill stations, with Nitrox available, and is operated by an experienced crew familiar with the waters of Southern California and Baja.

Where Will We Dive?

That's part of the adventure! Our exact itinerary will be determined by the length of the charter, weather, ocean conditions, and where the best diving is at the time of our trip.

Potential destinations may include San Clemente Island, known for remote reefs and abundant marine life; Catalina Island, famous for its beautiful kelp forests; Santa Barbara Island and its diverse underwater ecosystems; and the remote offshore diving of Tanner Bank and Cortes Bank. Extended itineraries may also provide opportunities to explore areas of the Northern Channel Islands.

What Might We See?

Southern California offers an incredible variety of marine life. Depending on our destination and conditions, we may encounter colorful Garibaldi, sea lions, rays, schooling fish, eels, nudibranchs, kelp forest inhabitants, and much more.

Offshore destinations can also bring the possibility of exciting pelagic encounters, including blue sharks, mako sharks, and other larger marine life.

More room. More comfort. Incredible diving. Welcome aboard the Vision!
